Within the pages of Witch Way Magazine are tales of magic and witchcraft, love and romance, creatures and spells. A mystical anthropologist desperate to find his lost brother trips and falls into another realm; a witch forced to return to her remote hometown gets trapped with the man she’s pretending to date; a journalist banished to an island by her ex turns out to have a fair hand at babysitting monsters; a preternaturally lucky Millennial politician falls for her problematically unlucky neighbor; and a disgruntled tech employee uncovers a surprising secret while seeking revenge on her not-so-altruistic boss.

From fiction contributor Olivie Blake, these stories of paranormal romance, adventure, humor, and misdeeds once exclusive to Witch Way Magazine are available to own for the first time, along with a new story written specifically for the collection.

Olivie Blake

Alexene Farol Follmuth, also known under the pen name Olivie Blake, is a lover and writer of stories, many of which involve the fantastic, the paranormal, or the supernatural, but not always. More often, her works revolve around the collective experience, what it means to be human (or not), and the endlessly interesting complexities of life and love. Alexene tripped and fell into writing after abandoning her long-premeditated track for Optimum Life Achievement while attending law school, and now focuses primarily on the craft and occasional headache of creating fiction. Under her Olivie byline, New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling The Atlas Six released 2022 from Tor Books, followed by its sequel The Atlas Paradox and the re-release of her viral literary romance Alone With You in the Ether. She has also been published as well as the writer for the graphic series Clara and the Devil and a variety of other books. As Alexene, her debut YA novel My Mechanical Romance released May 2022 from Holiday House (US) and Macmillan Children's (UK). Alexene lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband and goblin prince/toddler, where she is generally tolerated by her rescue pit bull.

These stories are beautiful, with characters finding love and magic in unexpected places. The settings are rich and the characters are complex. The imagery is totally engrossing and I felt pulled into each new world. The plots and characters vary so much, but were always delightful. I love the ideas of moving past first impressions, wild circumstances bringing people together, and developing relationships under fire (be it a large, nosy family or a community of violent monsters). I highly recommend this.

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this but soon found myself engrossed in the stories. I loved seeing the characters finding magic in the most unexpected of places. The author is a very talented writer and her writing makes you feel like you are in the stories viewing them with your own eyes. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend this to anyone looking for something they will have a hard time putting down!

This collection of stories is the utmost example of fantasy in the best way. What if one day you just fell into the fairy realm to save your boss? What if while on vacation you realized you were surrounded by monsters? What if you woke up one day, chose petty, and you exacted revenge on those who have crossed you? What if you found yourself living out a Hallmark-esque rom-com? These stories are light, fun, sometimes romantic, and feature magical diverse women in various stages of their lives. From a tarot-deck creator, to an executive, all the way to a journalist and politician. Witchy themes featuring strong, independent women choosing (or not choosing) love.
